About Me

Having a blog was never something I thought I would do. I always thought - who wants to read what I'm thinking about? Getting into the scrapbooking world has changed my mind.

I started scrapbooking at the beginning of February this year. It's the usual scrapper story. I had a baby the year before. I wanted to make a baby book and try out scrapping. A friend took me to a crop with her Creative Memories consultant. I bought an album and some stickers and some paper. I finished that first album - a 15 page 7x7 - in less than a month. It might have been a passing fancy. I could have decided my project was complete. But here is where my story differs. I fell hard for scrapbooking. I commandeered the dining room for my scrap space. I bought organizers and a rolling bag, tools and pens, paper and stickers, absolutely anything I could get my hands on without sending my husband into a state of shock. I had discovered that scrapbooking fulfilled something more for me, something I'd been looking for without even realizing it.

Everyone knows when you become a new mom, life changes. The first six months I barely had time to get dressed. That's especially true for moms like me, who return to work fulltime. By the time my son was 9 months old, I was feeling pretty comfortable with our routine and I wanted to do more than lay on the couch once he was in bed each night. Scrapbooking was the answer to "what do I do with myself." I'd also lost touch with friends and given up my social activities. Now that life was becoming "normal," I wanted a new social connection. Getting involved in scrapbooking revealed a world of people I never knew existed. I as fascinated by the fact that scrappers interacted through discussion boards and blogs at any time of day. It was everything I'd been looking for and more.

Fast-forward to present day. I've been working at this craft nearly every day for the past six months. I've found designers and paper lines that I love, and defined a style for myself which I feel good about. In the evenings and on the weekends I dedicate time to crops, workshops, and shopping for new product. I love the array of supplies there are to choose from. I think the thing I've enjoyed most about immersing myself in scrapbooking is that there is always a new technique or project for me to try.

I hope you'll come back and visit me as I embark on a new phase of my journey.
